UKRAINIAN NATIONAL TEAM OFFICIALS VISIT MANITOBA HOCKEY HALL OF FAME

Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame President Don Kuryk attended the Canadian Friends of Hockey in Ukraine dinner on Tuesday December 1st .

Don had the opportunity to greet the Ukrainian delegation and say a few words. He also introduced Ty Diliello and his book Lightning in a Bottle , the story of Billy Mosienko (Mosienko family was from Ukraine)
Minister of Sport, Culture & Heritage Cathy Cox represented the Province. Also attending, were a delegation from Ukraine;

  • Oleksandra Slatvytska, Executive Director, Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine
  • Kostiantyn Simchuk, Ukraine National Team Asst. Head Coach
  • Vadym Shakhraichuk, National Team Head Coach
  • Serhiy Mazur, President, HC Kremenchuk
  • Dimitri Khristich, Head, Ukrainian Hockey League

 
 MBHHF Directors Mike Gottfred, Garry Hammerback and Don hosted the delegation at the MBHHF museum with a luncheon.

 
Sunday Morning the UK delegates took to the ice to play a hockey game at the Billy Mosienko Arena. After the game Don presented former NHL great Dimitri Khristich with an Honourary medal from the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame.

Dimitri played 811 games in the NHL with Washington Capitals, LA Kings, Boston  Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played for the Ukraine Junior National Team.
